What is the standard billboard size?
The standard US highway billboard is the bulletin at 14 ft × 48 ft (4.27 × 14.63 m). The standard street-level format is the 30-sheet poster at about 10 ft 5 in × 22 ft 8 in. In the UK, the standard roadside billboard is the 48-sheet (20 ft × 10 ft).
What size is a billboard in pixels?
A printed billboard has no fixed pixel size — it’s a physical surface. The industry method is to design at 1:10 scale at 150 DPI, which outputs at the right resolution for billboard viewing distances (e.g. a 14×48 bulletin works out to roughly 2,520 × 8,640 px). For digital boards the pixel resolution is fixed by the screen — commonly 400×1400 to 840×2912 px for a digital bulletin, or 1080×1920 px for a portrait screen — so always build to the board’s exact native resolution from the vendor’s spec sheet.
What are 48-sheet, 96-sheet and 6-sheet billboards?
They’re UK out-of-home formats. A 48-sheet is 20 ft × 10 ft (6.10 × 3.05 m), the standard roadside billboard. A 96-sheet is 40 ft × 10 ft (12.19 × 3.05 m), double the width. A 6-sheet is 1.2 × 1.8 m, the portrait panel you see in bus shelters and on street furniture.
How much bleed does billboard artwork need?
It depends on the format and the printer. Large bulletins usually need around 6 inches of bleed on each side for the frame pocket; posters need roughly 0.5 inch. Always keep your key copy and logo inside the safe area, away from the edges — and confirm exact bleed with the printer before you send files.
How do I set up billboard artwork?
Design at 1:10 scale at 150 DPI in CMYK, keep text large and high-contrast for distance viewing, and leave room in the safe area. Then confirm the exact pixel size, bleed and file format against the board’s spec sheet. Need the specs for a specific placement? Talk to DASH TWO — or see our full billboard dimensions guide.
